History

Dr. Marva L. Myles was president of South Sacramento Theological Seminary Correspondence School which was an extension of Pneuma Theological Seminary for several years, when Dr. Myles was lead by the Holy Spirit to open “Empowerment Theological Seminary”.

Dr. Myles with the assistance of Dr. John Blouin, received approval from the State of California under Private Post-secondary and Vocational Education as well as getting the school accredited by (A.C.I.); the Accrediting Commission International for Schools, Colleges and Seminaries.

The school officially opened after receiving its accreditation in August of 2014. Empowerment received their 501(c)(3) in February of 2015.

In 2019, ETS reached out to students in Nigeria and Kenya. In March 2020, due to the pandemic, classes were developed through Conference Calls and currently we serve our students through the Zoom Platform.

During Dr. Myles work as a Chaplain, she was inspired to pursue creating her own Chaplain Institute. Five years of experience with the Sacramento Law-Enforcement Community Chaplaincy has allowed her to keep the vision and commitment to help those who are struggling in crisis and trauma.

Dr. Myles is passionate about displaying and depositing the gifts of motivation, emotional, and spiritual support for the patient, as well as support for the patient’s family and friends. She desired to become a Certified Chaplain and have a Chaplaincy Program for local communities and the United States.

This goal includes the collective involvement of other ordained Pastors and Ministers who possess bachelor, master, or doctorate degrees in Theology or Divinity. Having the heart to serve as a Chaplain, to connect with people in need of guidance, provide counseling and comfort in a time of distress and sadness to those who are ill and confined to their homes, is how these men and women should be willing to serve.
